About A&A Consulting
We’re Amanda & Amber Business Consulting – a boutique HR and change management firm helping small and medium-sized organizations build better workplaces. We’re proudly women-founded, deeply community-minded, and committed to providing flexible, empowering work environments for our team.
We're looking for a Senior HR Consultant to join us in a part-time/casual capacity. This role is remote-first, but applicants based in the Calgary region or Vancouver region are prioritized due to the occasional in-person client meetings and events.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Client Strategy & Management
- Serve as the lead HR advisor for multiple clients, building trusted relationships with business owners, executives, and boards.
- Translate organizational goals into actionable people strategies, from workforce planning to talent development to culture and engagement.
- Guide clients in measuring success with the right metrics and confidently articulate HR’s ROI to C-suite leaders.
- Lead client conversations with clarity, honesty, and strategic foresight.
- Project Leadership & Delivery
- Own the end-to-end delivery of strategic HR projects, whether it’s facilitating executive planning sessions, leading a workforce strategy, or supporting a major change initiative.
- Balance execution with oversight: do the high-impact work yourself, and ensure quality and consistency in work delivered by the team.
- Act as a final quality check on deliverables, keeping our standard of excellence high.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship
- Support, coach, and mentor junior and intermediate consultants.
- Delegate with intention, ensuring the right people are doing the right work, at the right time.
- Balance workloads across the team and keep internal operations running smoothly.
- Account Growth & Business Development
- Help grow existing accounts through strong relationship management and proactive problem-solving.
- Write proposals and secure client sign-off on new work.
- Collaborate with leadership on identifying and nurturing new business opportunities.
Our Ideal Candidate
You’ve operated at the Director level or above. You’ve seen the HR landscape from multiple angles, and you know how to connect people strategy to business success. You enjoy working independently while staying connected to a team of values-driven professionals.
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
- 15+ years of progressive HR experience, with strategic exposure across areas like workforce planning, talent management, change management, and organizational development.
- Proven experience as an HR leader (Director-level or equivalent), with strong financial and business acumen.
- Confidence working directly with business owners, executives, and boards.
- Experience leading and mentoring teams or consultants in a project-based environment.
- Excellent communication skills—able to cut through jargon and guide clients with clarity.
- Strong project management capabilities and comfort juggling multiple clients or initiatives at once.
- The ability to quickly build credibility and trust with diverse clients and stakeholders.
- Experience in unionized environments or investigations is an asset.
- Comfort with remote work, tech tools, and navigating ambiguity.
- Bonus: experience in business development, proposal writing, and client relationship management.
- Must have at least 15 hours of availability per week, and at least 75% of those need to be during our regular office hours (Monday – Thursday 830am-430pm, Friday 830am-1230pm, MT)
Why Work with Us:
